September
12, 2009 saw the annual gathering for the Choteau Sheep Expo at the Weatherbeater Barn in Choteau, Montana. A very successful
sale followed. 46 head sold ^ with the Yearling Rams averaging $386, ^ Ram lambs at $294, ^ white face ewe lambs at $160 and
black face ewe lambs at $250. ^
Highpoints of the sale included: Brent and Tracie Roeder, Montana Sheep Company, Fort
Shaw, MT, donated a quality registered Targhee ewe lamb to raise funds for the Choteau Sheep Expo Annual
Sale. Cord Bieber and Kristen McRae Bieber purchased the ewe lamb for $200 for McRae Targhees of Jordan, Mt.
Thank you McRae Targhees for purchasing this ewe lamb and thank you to Brent and Tracie Roeder for the generous donation!

Sheep Co., Brent and Tracie Roeder of Fort Shaw, MT sold the sales high selling ram, a yearling Targhee at $550 to Jackie
Stallcup of Havre. Bob Walstad of Valier, MT., sold 10 head of Targhee ewe lambs to Bill Ley of Choteau,
MT.
Top selling Columbia ram lamb was an entry from Doug Hitch Columbias of Hobson, Montana selling for $225 to
Raina Blackman of Craig, MT.
Top selling yearling Suffolk ram was an entry from McKay Suffolks of Ulm, MT at $475 to
Roger Fix of Hall, MT. Top selling ram lamb was an entry from Prairie Rose Suffolks, Gayle Lucas of Philipsburg,
MT that sold for $425 to Jackie Stallcup, Havre, MT. West River Suffolks of Deer Lodge, MT sold a ram lamb for
$400 to Lee Weaver. Matt Ayers of Dupuyer, MT. picked up a McKay Suffolks ram lamb for $325.
Newman Suffolks
of Hot Springs, MT., along with McKay Suffolks had the high selling Suffolk ewe lambs at $250 a head. Newman Suffolks sold 1
head going to Bonnie Theis of Cut Bank, MT., and McKays sold 3 Head going to Gayle Fenger of Galata, MT.
Tim
Stutzman, of Sunnyside Hampshires, Kalispell, MT, sold a nice yearling Hampshire ram for $350 to William Preeshl
of Chinook, MT.
Hoggan Sheep Co., Mike and Barbara Hoggan of Valier, MT., sold a Hamp/Suffolk cross ram lamb for
$325 to Matt Ayers of Dupuyer, MT.
Gene Langhus of Big Timber, MT sold a South African Meat Merino X Rambouillet ewe
lamb for $225 to Gayle Fenger of Havre, MT.
